A North London community centre, negotiating a lease with the council after a number of years occupying the space informally, were asked to provide individual charity trustees to guarantee the lease.

The Foundation secured pro bono input from a solicitor who advised the community centre of the unusually onerous nature of this requirement and provided advice on negotiation.  With this knowledge, the community centre negotiated to provide a three month rent deposit instead of personal guarantors.  As a result, the council subsequently changed its policy across all it leases to charities.
